7). UPDATE ON THE ICE SKATING RINK:

The ice rink was placed in a location near the east bridge along the walking path. After Wes Simons brought in 3-3yd loads of sand & leveled

off, then Gary Simons, Jr. & Sr., Jarrod Warner & Stefano Casadei un- rolled, anchored the plastic down while two firemen and Fire Chief Richard

Tucker brought us about 8,000 gallons of water for the rink on Sunday morning. The rink looked pretty good on Monday, and Tuesday morning

Mr. Hahn came into the Twp Offices to advise he chased two young boys

off the rink, who were out there breaking up the ice, and pulling the plastic

up through the surface.

8). UPDATE ON COTTRELLVILLE TOWNSHIP’S PARKS & REC MASTER

PLAN:

A proposal from David Birchler was supplied to members of the Committee showing that the cost of the update would not exceed $7,200

for preparing the master plan for Parks & Rec, and a not to exceed cost of

$2,500 to prepare the grant application for the purchase of the proposed

Township Waterfront Park.

After a short discussion, it was the general consensus to ask the Township Board to enter into the agreement to have Birchler begin the

master plan for the Parks & Recreation Plan for Cottrellville Twp.

9). UPDATE ON THE RIVER FRONT PARK PURCHASE:

Chairman Simons advised the township board would be contacting the

realtor, Laura Janski to continue with the offer to purchase ideas that were

discussed with Trustee Pelc and Supervisor Raymond. It was discussed

with David Birchler that the township has a very good chance of receiving

grant money to make this purchase, pending the current owner is willing to

accept our offer with the conditions, which include getting this idea on the

August Primary Voting Ballot for a vote of the residents.

10). DISCUSSION OF THE BUDGET FYE: 03/31/2011

Treasurer Perreman passed out copies of last year’s budget to

discuss the ideas for the coming year. Several items included land - scaping of building berms around the pavilion and planting arborvitaes

trees on the berm to stop the wind instead of tarps.

Fertilizing, seeding & mulching of the disturbed areas of the park, dozing the imported fill dirt that needs to be graded ready for seeding, as well as

benches, bleachers, equipment, storage building, second pavilion, completing a soccer field, a more permanent ice rink, paving the walking

path, and most importantly the electrical for a pitching machine and power

at the pavilion were all talked about on the “wish list.”

Mrs. Perreman advised that she would do the first draft and Simons can

plug in the numbers for electrical, and some of the other descriptions

prior to sending it to the Board for their budget hearing. A copy will be

forwarded to everyone else on the committee once it is figured out.

11). UPDATE ON ARBORVITAES TREES FOR AROUND THE PAVILION:

Simons advised that Trustee Pelc offered cedar trees from his property in

Tennessee if someone would come down and dig them out, load them, &

bring them back to Michigan and replant them.

Simons advised that she believes there are about 400 arborvitaes trees

on her father-in-law’s farm on Shea & Starville Road, and will get a price from her husband & brother-in-law to see what they would want to dig up

trees, load them, deliver & transplant them on the berm around three sides

of the pavilion. Since they don’t own a tree spade, she will try and get a price on that piece of equipment to perform this service and get back with

the group.

12). DISCUSSION OF COMPLETION OF THE PARK “COSTS:”

The “Wish List” to complete the Park was discussed above in the Budget

discussion. Several more bids for fencing & the pavilion as well as the

electrical is being worked on by Simons.

13). ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION:

Simons reminded everyone of the Food Pantry on Wednesday, February 24th, 2010 at the Marine City Airport in case anyone wishes to volunteer to

help.

Mrs. Davis advised that Joni LeRoy had offered some items for the Easter

Egg Hunt, and mentioned that she would be forwarding a list of what else

would be required for the event so that Simons can order it from Oriental
