MINUTES OF THE REGULARLY SCHEDULED
MEETING FOR
April 12, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.
1.) The regularly scheduled meeting was called to order at 7:06 p.m. in the Board Room of the Cottrellville Township Hall and attendance taken by Chairperson Mary Agnes Simons.
2). ATTENDANCE:
Members Present: Michelle Davis, Vickie Perreman,
Stefano Casadei, Joni LeRoy, and
Mary Agnes Simons.
Also present Bernie Pelc
Members Absent: Jynil Schneider, Excused.
3). APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Minutes of March 8th, 2010 meeting were passed out to the member-
ship.
ACTION: It was moved by Perreman, seconded by Casadei, to approve March 8th, 2010 minutes as presented and place them on file. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
4). AGENDA APPROVAL:
Simons motioned to add the removal of the dead ash trees to the agenda. Perreman supported. All Ayes. Motion carried. Added to agenda as 11B.
5). PUBLIC COMMENTS: Bernie Pelc member of the Township board conveyed that the Parks and Recreation Committee serves only in an advisory capacity. The focus of the Parks and Recreation Committee should be to complete the existing park so that when the river property is purchased the focus can be towards the second park planned for this lot. Also the Parks and Recreation Committee should focus on what the community wants as highlighted in the public survey which can be found in the 5 year plan. Being a past member of the P+R Committee Pelc stated that the original plan for the park was low maintenance with wetlands, soccer field and a walking trail. He suggested a split rail fence around the basketball court would serve the same purpose as a chain link fence without risk to the public and with lower cost and maintenance. soccer goals. Pelc also mentioned SEMCOG funds park improvements but will only fund one park at a time. Davis suggested that a Township board member regularly attend the Parks and Recreation meetings to help in keeping the lines of communication open. Possibly rotating members of the Township board to sit in. Simons motioned for requesting a liaison from the Township Board to attend the Parks and Recreation Committee meetings. Perreman supported. All Ayes. Motion carried.
6). TREASURER’S REPORT FOR APRIL 12TH, 2010.
Committee Treasurer Vickie Perreman offered no update on the Treasurer’s Report.
February expenses $97.48 for the visqueen for the ice rink. Balance as of February 28, 2010 $20,333.57 Simons motioned to accept. Davis supported. All Ayes Motion carried.
Overpayment of $150.00 added March 25, 2010. Easter bikes $361.34, $65.00 miscellaneous for new ice rink sign totaling 436.34 for the month of March 2010. Balance as of March 31,2010 $20,057.23. There will be no maintenance bills until April.
Simons motioned to accept. Casadei supported. All Ayes. Motion carried
7). SUMMARY EASTER EGG HUNT..
Davis reported 150 attended the Easter Egg Hunt. All went well. Perreman suggested that next year the entry slip for the bike giveaway be included on the flyers to move things along more smoothly. As all the eggs were returned there will be no need to purchase additional eggs next year.
As the carpet in the board room was soiled during the hunt carpet cleaning was necessary and the Committee can be expecting the bill.
8). NEW BUDGET FOR PARKS & REC FYE: 03-31-2011:
As neither Simons nor Pelc have received any information on this there was nothing to discuss.

9). UPDATE ON COTTRELLVILLE TOWNSHIP’S PARKS & REC MASTER PLAN:
A meeting with Dave Birchler and Jill Bohm of Birchler & rroyo Inc. will be Tuesday April 27th at 11:00 a.m.
10). LATEST ON BASEBALL FIELD SCHEDULING
Casadei has a copy of the field schedule. Simons has information on the distance between bases. Davis will get the schedule for the Heat team to Simons so that other teams may be scheduled.
Davis suggested that the port-a-potty be moved to the other side of the pavilion for the convenience of the baseball players until another port-a-potty could be obtained.

11a). PLANS FOR KIDS TO KIDS SALE, PERRENNIAL FLOWER EXCHANGE OR ANNUAL PICNIC
After some discussion Casadei motioned to cancel the Kids to Kids Sale and the Perennial Flower Exchange. Davis supported. All Ayes. Motion carried. The Annual Picnic has been tabled until May 10th 2010 meeting to determine the condition of the park
11b). REMOVAL OF DEAD ASH TREES AND STUMPS
Simons received a bid of 450.00 for the removal of 22 trees and 19 stumps. Pelc stated that the issue of the removal of the trees and stumps needs to be recommended to the Township board and they will decide if 3 bids are necessary. Pelc stated that once it goes to the Township board it is out of the Committees hands.

12) ROUND TABLE
Vickie Perreman presented her letter of resignation from the Parks and Recreation Committee. She offered to help with future events.
Davis asked about obtaining community service workers. Simons said that both she and Tom Raymond have been trying to contact someone but have not received a response.
Casadei suggested that the park could use a cigarette receptacle near the pavilion and trash cans near the baseball field. Pelc said that he had 3 barrels that he is willing to donate for this purpose. He will be in touch with Casadei.
Simons moved to appoint Joni LeRoy as secretary. Supported. (until you read my notes : )
12). ADJOURNMENT: With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:24 p.m.
