b. Renewable Energy Sources- township planning consultant/sample language for wood/wind generation: Dick Smith, township planning consultant, in attendance. We shared we have been discussing wood burners and wind generators. He brought up heat pumps, which are used more commonly now, but they have little/no impact outside a home. Solar is the same.

Wood as alternative energy generator: Georgia to share the Power Point from the Lansing workshop with Dick (copies to new PC members Stefano & Pat, too). Dick suggested having educational programs to go along with a new ordinance on wood burners. Dick will research ordinances.

Wind as alternative energy generator: Reviewed the sample language Dick brought. We will take home and read for review at a later meeting.

PUBLIC COMMENTS

    1. The Supervisor swore in new PC member Stefano.

    2. Discussion re: there is a resident with a sand excavation operation going on his property; this resident is also stockpiling other materials, like old concrete. Question: are there ordinances regulating this usage re: noise, hours, etc. Yes- Ordinance 132.1324 is the section which covers this (ordinance effective date: 11-07-07). The building inspector was asked about this operation; he had no knowledge of it. Reporting resident said it’s been going on since early 90s when he moved in. Mary Agnes will send a letter to building inspector to look into if this is a permitted use, etc.; copy to supervisor.
