COTTRELLVILLE TOWNSHIP
PARKS & RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING
MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING SCHEDULED FOR
November 10, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.
1. Regularly scheduled meeting called to order at 7:07 p.m. by chairwoman Mary Agnes Simons at the Cottrellville Township Hall conference room, and attendance taken.
2. Members Present: Stefano Casadei, Jynil Schneider, Vickie Perreman, Mary Agnes Simons
Members Absent: E. Sue Terhune, excused; Michelle Davis, excused
Audience Attendance: No Audience
3. MINUTES:
Minutes for October 20, 2008 meeting were handed out by Schneider.
ACTION: It was moved by Perreman, seconded by Simons, to approve the minutes of the 10-20-08 meeting, as presented, and place them on file. All ayes. Motion Carried.
4. AGENDA APPROVAL:
ACTION: It was moved by Perreman and seconded by Casadei to accept the agenda for the 11-10-08 meeting with no additional agenda items. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
5. PUBLIC COMMENTS:
No Public Comments.
6. FINANCIAL REPORT:
The financial report was postponed until December 8, 2008 meeting due to the election.
7. SOFTBALL FIELD UPDATES:
Per Simons, the clay for the batter's box and pitcher's mound is in the garage. Casadei may build the pitcher's mound and batter's box from this clay if the contract with TK and Associates is terminated in the future.
8. REVIEW OF OCTOBER HALLOWEEN PARTY:
Tabled to the December meeting
9. ADDITIONAL COMMITTEE MEMBER NAMES:
The committee has two possible candidates to join, Julie Sechulty and Ronald Lauback. The committee will invite them to the December meeting.
10. Articles for the Township Newsletter (January 2009)
Simons will develop articles for the committee and submit them to the township.
11. DISCUSSION REGARDING 2009 DATES:
It was discussed that the park opening would be April 1, 2009. Simons and Davis will set a date for the Easter party. The annual township picnic will be planned for July 26, 2009, and the Halloween party is being planned for October 25, 2009.
It was also mentioned that the October 2009 meeting date will need to be changed to October 19, 2009 due to the Columbus Day holiday.

13. ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION:
Schneider suggested that the park should be open year-round. The committee decided to close this winter and look at this option at a future meeting.
Perreman suggested hosting community events. Suggestions were made of a perennial exchange, classic car show, bake sale, and township yard sale. The committee agreed to continue to look into these ideas and set a tentative date of May 16, 2009 for a township yard sale/ bake sale.
Casadei suggested to the committee that we could use two cigarette trays near the pavilion and one by the softball field when it is operational to allow visitors to properly extinguish their cigarettes.
15. ADJOURNMENT:
With all the business completed, the meeting was adjourned at 7:53 p.m.
