CORRESPONDENCE

a) Introduction of New Planning Commission Member, Joe Treadway; Mr. Treadway did not appear

b) Request by Georgia Phelan to attend Michigan Planner Advance Academy, Thursday, 6/17/10, Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center, MSU, Sent to

board for approval.

c) Request by Township Attorney to join us for our meeting tonight; Attorney John McNamee is in attendance.

OLD BUSINESS

  1. Review of four pending ordinances with township attorney John

McNamee

1. Engineering Ordinance: must coordinate with existing ordinances.

Water sewer update needed? Separate or reference to engineering.

2. Noxious Weed Ordinance: McNamee says they are too difficult to

enforce; maintenance ordinance is more workable, particularly with

banks that take over properties. He will have a proposed amendment to

us by our next meeting on June 23. Lengthy discussion on trying to

enforce some of these types of ordinances.

3. Bicycle Path Ordinance: it needs an enforcement mechanism. There may be something in the state codes to this effect. He will have this to us before our next meeting on June 23 so we can review it in advance.

4. Renewable Wind Sources-Wind Generators Ordinance: discussed

issues to address, complaints to anticipate. We have covered all this in

our ordinance.

5. Discussion regarding Medical Marijuana operations and regulations,

what is and isn’t allowed. Current Michigan state law does not allow for

congregating and smoking, which seems to be the concern in

municipalities.

B. Third review of sample language regarding “Outdoor Wood Burners,

Open Burning & Wood Fired Boiler” ordinance (begin page 5- Article

VI-Patio Wood Burning Units). Have requested feedback from Fire

Department yet; Fire Chief says we’ll have it by June 23 meeting.

Continued review; Dick will provide second draft at June 23 meeting.

C. Tabled Review of Sample Language for “Grading & Drainage

Regulations Ordinance” from last month’s agenda.

Motion to table: Mary Agnes

Second: Pat Runyon

Motion carries.

NEW BUSINESS

a) Request by Township Treasurer Dian Courtney to:

1. Revise the Water / Sewer Billing Policies & Procedures

2. Update Water & Sewer Ordinances

No action on either: copies to be supplied to Dick Smith of Montgomery & Associates Inc. for first draft ideas.
